4th of July Weekend

Well for the weekend of the 4th we went to visit Mike and DeDe and the rest of the family. It was a great weekend hanging out with family and friends and LOTS of swimming in the pool!

I know I am partial but little boys just don't come any cuter than this guy!

This pretty girl ate pop-tarts at least twice a day.

Rules are bent during a weekend with the grandparents. (c:

We started the weekend by going to this cutie's 2nd birthday party! He got lots of cool Cars stuff. We were so glad we were able to be there to help celebrate.

Reid cuddled up with Eli on the couch to watch a little tv.

Then Lilly and Reid decided to cuddle up with Mike and watch some Dora. It is amazing how much more Dora Mike is willing to watch when he has these two cuddled up in his lap.

Uncle Bert and Aunt Bec Bec were in town too! Lilly and Reid LOVE them. And so do we.

Lilly has started telling Reid to "sit on my lap" and like the obedient little brother he is, he goes and sits on her lap.

It is always short-lived. Ha! And, if he is "shooey" then she promptly tells him to get off.

LOVE this picture. Says so much about Miss Sassy Pants and her personality.

Playing with Bec-Bec

Trying to put Eutha's house shoes on Bubby.

We went and saw Granddaddy and Eutha and their new home. It is perfect and I think they are really loving it too! The kids had a good time exploring. They just love new territory. (:

Granddaddy and Eutha

Mike and Granddaddy. I think this picture is funny.

Well I accidentally deleted a picture of Lilly pushing MamMa around in the wheel chair so I will have to put it in another post. Shucks!

We also went by and visited MamMa.

The rest of our weekend was spent in the pool but I didn't get any pictures of that! We saw friends and more family. Matt and I went and saw Larry Crowne one night with Bert and Becca. I thought it was good...but I really like both Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. We came home late evening on the 4th so we really only got to see fireworks on the road home. Lilly and Reid enjoyed the ones on the road so much that I felt really bad that they didn't get to see an actual fireworks display. (I know that was a little random at the end but I just looked at the clock and realized I need to be asleep-pronto!) I LOVE LOVE LOVE long weekends with my sweet family!

A Little Bit of Random

Well I have several random photos...so I am putting them all together for a random post. Awesome and handsome hubby has been making us pancakes on Saturday mornings. They are SO GOOD.

The kids gobble them up too.

Neither one of my children eat syrup on their pancakes. Lilly does like to dip hers in butter though. That girl is all about her bread and butter.

I got my hair cut a couple of weeks ago. I also bought my first thing of hair spray. I bought some mineral finishing spray or something like that too. I have always used mousse so now I use three products in my hair. I like to refer to this hairstyle as my high-maintenance hair-do. (:

Ever since the kids have become obsessed with Dora, I have gotten an abundance of cuddles and snuggles. And they have started speaking in Spanish. Ha! When we walk into Target now the kids yell "Abren" (open in Spanish) at the automatic doors. Then they get excited because they do, indeed, abren.

While I was getting my hair done (<----this statement is just so the family knows that I was not responsible for her when the incident happened), Lilly fell and hit some brick on the house. It looked HORRIBLE but she never complained about it at all! Trooper.

Reid has shocked and awed us all with his swimming skills this summer. He just doggy-paddles his cute little self all over the pool. While he is swimming he likes to say "I schwimmin'". He is such a little smartie. I can NOT believe he will turn 2 at the end of next month.

He hasn't fought naps or bed lately. (Well he has never really fought it...but he was going through a phase where we would say "bedtime" and he would run in the opposite direction and we would have to chase him down-ha!) Anyway, this week when I say "nap time" or "bed time" he just runs to his room and crawls up in the rocking chair.

These last pictures are from my phone and not high-quality. Reid got all the diapers out the other day, played with them for a while, and then stacked them in his chair and sat on them.

It's the little things in life!

Does anyone else feel like you need a special license to drive one of these things???

My Prayer Box

Well I have wanted to write this post for a while but I haven't been caught up on the blog BUT since I already posted about the kids today I am going for it!!

If you know me, then you know that I have to tell you the story behind the story in order to tell you...the story. So, hang with me! When I made New Year's Resolutions this year one of them was to "pray better". I think when I made it I didn't even know what I meant by it but I knew I wasn't praying well enough, often enough, for all the people that needed it, etc. Well...I guess I knew because the Lord was telling me--I just didn't know it was His idea yet.

Imagine my surprise when in January I go to MOPS and we are making prayer boxes. Just what I needed to organize my prayer requests so that I could get it in order and "pray better". Coincidence? I think not. You may already know what a prayer box is...or you may be like me and had never even heard of such a contraption. So, overall it is a box that you keep that has different tabs and index cards so that you can pray for all the stuff you want/need to. I will include directions in case any of you want to make one for yourself...and if you don't have one...you want to. I will share the tabs and an example of what I pray (I have been trying to incorporate scripture into my prayer as well so I will give a couple of examples of that too) underneath. Ready??

  • Preparation--I pray something similar to the following daily, "Lord please reveal anything that is dividing my heart so that I may whole-heartedly live out Joshua 22:5, Lord, to love you with all my heart, walk in all your ways, obey all your commands, cling firmly to you, and to serve you with my whole heart and my whole soul." You do not have to pray that--it is just an example because I really didn't know what to put behind that tab when I first made it.

  • Forgiveness--Ya'll don't need to know my many flaws. (c:

  • Praise--I try to switch this one up. I love to praise Him for being the one thing is my life that never changes and to praise his different "names" (i.e. Thank you Lord for being my healer/savior/provider/etc.)

  • Daily prayers--I pray for me to be able to see and fulfil my purpose for that day and I pray Philippians 4:8 for myself and Colossians 1:9-10 for Matt, Lilly, and Reid. I also pray for things that need more than weekly/monthly prayer at that time (i.e. a sick friend, a troubled marriage, a family suffering a loss, etc.)

  • Sunday-Saturday--(one tab for all 7 days a week) This is where you put people/things you want to pray for weekly. For example, Sundays I pray for our church staff and preachers all over, Monday I pray for military, Tuesday I pray for my bible study friends, Wednesday my small group, etc.

  • 1-31--(one tab for each day of the month) I will get into this under the next picture.

  • Lost People--I made this tab up but I pray for a list of people that I would like to come to know Christ.

  • Answered Prayers--when a prayer is answered I move it behind this tab so I can visually see God's faithfulness to answer my prayers. Even since January there are already some awesome PRAISES in here.

  • Dismissed--Prayers that are no longer needed.

  • God's Truth--I added this tab, too. This is where I put Truths from God's word that I use when I am feeling insecure, am being tempted by Satan, or just that I like to look at and remember from time to time. Okay under the 1-31 tabs...I put several things in these.

  • I put a family or families behind each tab. This is my tab from today. Instead of just writing friends' names on Index cards--I cut up all the Christmas Cards/birthday invitations/etc because I would rather look at their picture or sweet words when praying for them.

  • I also put some virtue I want to pray for my children to have behind each day (i.e. salvation, love, self-control, love for God's word, self-esteem, etc).

  • I put (I am actually adding this right now.) one of God's names (again, defender, strong tower, Lord Almighty) so that I can have a specific way to praise him that day and so that I can memorize them!

Okay...so that is what is in the box. I love it! I am so thankful that Jennifer made that our craft that day!! And, last but not least, if only just to prove that God wanted me to work on prayer--I am involved in a neighborhood bible study and we had planned to do For Women Only but at our first meeting realized that it just wasn't going to work for the whole group so we decided to change books. Which one did we end up doing??? The Power of a Praying Woman. We are only a few chapters in but I am loving it and the revelations are coming!! One of the points I love so far is when she talks about how much Jesus prayed...and that if Jesus--of all people--needed to pray that much...then we probably need to make prayer part of our lifestyle too!

OH!! If you all have any suggestions on things I should add, let me know! Also, if you have a prayer request--I am a prayer warrior so let me know and I will pray and keep it confident! You can email me at sarascott8704@yahoo.com, tweet me @mrssarascott, or leave a comment!

Crazy Kids

Well...I should start by confessing these pictures are from the beginning of June. As I have mentioned numerous times--our church does Friday Night Out--a free date night for parents 2 times a month. Well it ends past the kids' bedtime and usually they are ready for bed when we get home. But on this particular night...they were W.I.R.E.D!!! I am almost certain that the FNO workers must have given them Mt. Dew, Candy, and had them watch Kung Fu Panda! They were in extra-energy hysterical form. Reid found their little broom and took the end off and was swinging it all around yelling "Hi-yah! Hiiii-yaaaahhhh!" He has never done this before. That is why I am thinking Kung Fu Panda must've been involved?? Ha!

He was also wearing the broken fake pearl necklace around at some point.

I think this might have been taken as he was telling Daddy he was going to "get you".

He was so funny...a little scary...but so funny.

"On guard!" Or, as Reid said, "Hi-yah!"

"Cheese!!"

Full speed ahead.

The next day he was doing this with it. Ha! So silly. That broom stick has mysteriously (c; disappeared.

Lilly was in rare form too. She gave us all lots of (pretend) medicine.

Did some super jumping!

Told lots of stories...

with lots of dramatic facial expressions, of course. You just can't tell a good story without them!

She is probably saying, "ummmmmmm".

There is never a dull moment with these too!

Happy 4th of July...

Happy 4th of July...on the 5th! Better late than never I always say! (c; I am thankful to live in America. That is one of those "thankfuls" that I often don't really acknowledge and maybe perhaps even take for granted. I am so thankful to live in a country where I can go to church, read the bible, talk about (and blog about) God and how ridiculously much HE loves us--all freely and without fear of penalty of law or death. It is so easy to get caught up in my day-to-day life and be completely oblivious to the fact that there are places all over the world that do not have that freedom, places where Bibles have to be smuggled into the country, churches have to meet secretly knowing that if caught the penalty could be death, and even more scary...the majority of people are Godless.

I am also grateful to the men and women fighting to preserve that freedom. The soldiers here and overseas, the men and women who have died protecting us, their families sacrificing daily while they are away constantly wondering whether or not they are safe. I am also grateful for the people in this country fighting for our freedoms daily in the political system as well. I pray for the safety of these people and the guidance for their leadership.

And, on a much lighter note, I am just giddy about a long weekend to celebrate with my family and the opportunity to relax by the pool, see loved ones, and make lasting memories!
