Lilly's News and Reid's Room

Well Lilly is in love with phones. Every time I am on the phone, she thinks it needs to be on speaker so she can talk to. Apparently, she has a lot of important information to pass along. She also thinks that she owns and controls all of the remote controls. I swear she can make the tv do things I can't get it to do!
This morning she managed to get the diaper bag down. She decided to do some investigative work. It's contents must have seemed suspicious.
"What do we have here??"

"Aha!" She pretty much took everything out for what I can only assume was a quality inspection.
Ah, Reid. Reid is the reason for the lack in posting lately. You see, I have spent every free moment I have (haha..free moment...haha...) either trying to make sure everything is perfect for when he arrives or ...and this one has been a big one lately... trying to walk myself into labor. I really thought I would have had him by now. I had Lilly at 37 weeks 3 days. I was further along at my first check than I was with her, so I assumed I would have him at the same time. Well, I am 38 weeks today...I am considering that 4 days past due!!! So, on the agenda for today--I am going to put Lilly down for her morning nap and then when she wakes up we are going to "mall walk" and try to go into labor!! I have been blessed with wonderful pregnancies but after 2 years of being pregnant...let's just say I miss seeing my feet! and bending over without having to hold my breath! and not waking up 25 times in the night to readjust positions! etc.!!!
Back to the boy! Since we are waiting to see what our next move house-wise will be until after Reid gets here, the place we are staying at only has two bedrooms. So, Reid's room is in our room. Luckily the place we are at has a good size master bedroom!
The crib. We have a bumper pad and blanket for him, but we don't use those for several months.
His shelves and picture frames..courtesy of his Aunt Shelly.
The changing table. Again, where the dirty work is done.
His bedding blanket. You know what is missing?? Him!!!

Vacuums and Invitations

MoMo spent a couple of days with us and while she was here, she introduced Lilly to.... vacuum cleaner rides! As a baby, Lilly LOVED the vacuum...we would turn it on and she would just get totally calm. A couple of months ago, she decided she wasn't sure whether she liked it or not. When it was on, she just watched it and kept a CLOSE EYE on me....just making sure I was okay.
Well, then lately, she has decided it is good again. She follows me around, plays with the cord (yes, I supervise this closely), chases it and runs from it, and always makes sure her paci is out of it's way! Now, she has a new way to enjoy it...except that Mommy is just way tooooo pregnant for giving vacuum cleaner rides. Way. Too. Pregnant!
Today, I set out to take pictures for Lilly's birthday party invitations. She woke up from a good morning nap, Matt fed her lunch while I got everything ready, and then Lilly and I headed out to take some photos....sounded like it was the perfect set-up. Not-so-much folks! Lilly was just not in the mood for a photo shoot. When I did manage to get her to smile, it was not--I repeat NOT--at the camera. She would look away and smile...I think she knew. We did manage to create a pretty cute invitation, but you will have to wait to see it until you get it in the mail! However, here are two of the "reject" photos.
Hahahaha. She is leaping at a toy that GG Odie was shaking to try and get a smile. Hahaha. It just cracks me up!
This look of "Help!-Get me out of here!" is more like the look I got in the majority of the photos.

So, after her 11 month post, I thought of a couple of other things Miss Priss has been doing. One, she is standing on her own for brief seconds at a time. She is really working hard on her balance, which ironically, is causing her to fall more because she keeps just trying to take off. Two, she is always doing stuff that cracks us up! The other day she got to her end table and got the Mylecon bottle (a medicine bottle with a dropper that has a soft rubbery end). So, what does she decide this could be used for???
A pacifier! She went all around the house with it hanging out of her mouth just like this.

"What's the big deal Mom??" Silly girl!
As I mentioned in the previous post, she has been taste testing and so far she has a strong preference for CHOCOLATE! A girl after our own hearts in this house!
Of course, being adorable as usual. She also is so smiley and chatty (as you will see in one of the videos below).
Pointing up a storm. You see, Lilly had a little secret that I hadn't mentioned on the blog because it is just not lady-like....she started pointing a while back...just with the wrong finger. The middle one to be exact. However, GG Odie has been teaching her to point with the right one so she is getting much better at not giving people the "bird". It was quite embarrassing when someone would comment on how cute she is and then she would flip them off...I do have to admit it was a little funny too. Anyway, we are making progress! She thinks it is hilarious if she points at you and then you point back at her.
MoMo is in town!!! Yay for MoMo!! Lilly has really enjoyed her MoMo being in town these past two days. They have played and played. MoMo pushed Lilly in the stroller really fast as Mommy was trying to walk herself into labor (no luck yet). We are so glad to have MoMo in town for a few days!

(VIDEO above) Lilly has been a little chatty lately. In this video, she just goes around pulling everything out of the cabinets chatting up a storm. Again, she refuses to wave to the camera or give Mommy the time of day on camera. Today she went around the kitchen walking pushing that basket she is playing with in the beginning of the video.

(VIDEO above). This video has Lilly doing what we call the bunny hop. She just started doing it a couple of days ago. She bounces up and down on her knees. She will go across the living room like this. It is so funny! She wants to be upright so I guess this is her way of doing that and not walking. Also, at the beginning she points at Matt and he points back. She thinks that is funny!

Reid's Shower

Last Sunday was Reid's baby shower. We were so blessed to have so many people shower us with love and gifts for our little bundle! Lilly was there to party it up! This is her sliding down a glass door. Hilarious!
This was a table where my sister had little bags with sour patch kids inside them...that was something I craved early on in the pregnancy. She also made the giraffe book shelves and the two picture frames in the background for Reid's room. She is super-talented!
One of the gifts Reid received was this stick horse. My grandma is laughing really hard because she almost got caught on camera riding the stick horse. Haha.
Lilly got to see lots of family. This is her with her Great Aunt Becky and Great Uncle Larry.
DeDe and Lilly
Lilly's cousin Emma and Aunt Michelle (the hostess) --don't they look just alike?
Me, MoMo, Lilly, Aunt Shelly, and Emma Michelle (my sister, Lilly's Aunt Shelly), Mom (MoMo), and Me....ready to pop!
This was the food table. Everything was so elaborate and beautiful!
A close-up of the cake. It is from Shelby Lynn's and was soooo good!
The punch not only tasted really good, but it also was all foggy and neat looking too!
My sister made these letters to hang above Reid's bed. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! I will post a picture later this week of his room all set up.
Grandpa Dennis stopped by to say hi to Lilly at the end of the shower.
Big Mama's in the house!! Me, Cori-a friend from college, and Brittney-a friend and my hair stylist. I am due September 10th, Cori is due at the end of November, and Brittney is due September 22. Reid already has little buddies!! (c:
Emma and Lilly playing at the shower. Such beautiful girls!
I love this little girl! At the shower Lisa (somehow managed not to get a picture of you Lisa??) planned a couple of games to play. One was where she would say the adult animal and you had to write down the name of the baby animal (i.e. horse-colt)....well, at the end of the game I felt like I should turn in my teaching license because I did so poorly, but anywho, Great Grandma Odie won that one! The other game was to create a toilet paper diaper. The teams were as follows:
Great Grandma Odie and Allison, DeDe and Aunt CiCi (not pictured)
Cousin Michelle and Aunt GiGi
Cori and Jan
MoMo, Emma, and Aunt Shelly...they were going for super absorbency..haha.
Roxane and Brittney
Great Aunt Vivian and Great Aunt Lois.....and the winners were......
Aunt GiGi and Michelle!! I felt as though their's looked the most like a diaper and the least like a jock strap! It was pretty funny to watch them play this game and I am sure they all appreciate me posting these photos..haha. We had such a great shower and were so blessed! Special thank you to my sister, mom, aunt gigi, and Lisa for throwing such a more than perfect shower for us! We love you guys!!!
