Last Wednesday MoMo, Lilly, Reid, and I loaded up the car and headed to the Gentry Safari. It is a place close to us where there is a drive-thru part and then there is a petting area too.
The LionFunny story--right before Reid was born we took Lilly to the Kansas City Zoo and there was a family right in front of us and the little boy with them said, "Look Dad!!! It is a SQUIRREL!!!" And the dad replied, "Really son?? We are next to the gorillas and you are excited about the squirrel??" And so from then on it has been kind of an inside joke with us every time we see a squirrel we very excitedly say, "It's a squirrel!!"
Well this zoo trip--Lilly was SO EXCITED to see the squirrels! They were everywhere too. Ha! Sometimes I think God just wants to give us a good laugh. She kept saying, "Mommy there is a squirrel! Take a picture!!"
Of course she wanted me to take a picture of every animal.
These zebras came right up to our car and just hung out with us.
There were lots of babies around. Here is a pig and piglets. Last year when we came there was a baby tiger and we got to play with it and it bit me. When we pulled into the zoo Lilly said, "Mommy you got bit by a tiger here!!"
The rhino!
If you look close you can see the goslings.
Me and my babies!
They didn't have any exotic babies yet like lions, tigers, or bears (oh my)--but when they do they have them at the baby barn and you can play with them. Reid, MoMo, and Lilly (showing me her eyes)
Feeding the cows.
The goats. They tried to eat MoMo's shirt and purse.
Reid. You can't see it but he is on a huge rock with a whole bunch of goats. If they would get close to him he would make the funniest face!
Lilly really enjoyed feeding all of the animals.
Checking out the kangaroo.
Giving some hugs.
I told Reid to look up and apparently he didn't do it fast enough for Lilly so she was "helping" him. (: We had a fun time and Lilly and Reid are already begging to go back. They are two animal-loving kiddos!!

What a fun place. It looks like it was a beautiful day. I remember we took at group of kids to the zoo a few years ago and the cicadas were really bad. The kids were fascinated with those annoying bugs instead of the zoo animals.
