Testimony Tuesday: A Purposeful Life

NEWS--I have decided to start doing "Testimony Tuesday"--where I will "testify" to some way that God has worked in my life each week. You may be wondering...Why am I doing this? Well, I have decided that I want to give God part of everything I have and that includes this blog, facebook, twitter, time, etc. Well, that, and I feel like he is leading me too. (c;

SO today I will be talking about a lesson he has been teaching me over the past few weeks (oh, who am I kidding...I can be a slow learner...months). Just to start off real, let me disclose that I am typing this from an un-made bed, a pile of unfolded clean clothes is laying on the couch, all of the decorative couch pillows are covering the living room floor along with some toys, remnants of lunch remain on the high-chairs and kitchen table, and the sink is loaded with dirty dishes. It has been so hot that we have been pretty much stuck inside. The children are bored with the usual toys and have switched to house destruction to keep entertained. Ha!

Matt and I keep an extremely busy schedule and have something going on nearly every day. All things that we LOVE doing (bible studies, small group, dinners with friends, family nights, and weekends-we just generally cram as much into a weekend as possible-ha!) We finally had a weekend without plans and we ended up spending it with Matt helping some friends move and me baking 10 dozen cookies (that will be discussed in next week's Testimony Tuesday). Oh, and we have two toddlers less than a year apart. Ha!

I LOVE our busy life. Truth time--every once in a while--when I am just plain tired--I get really tempted to say we are just too busy. We just have too much on our plate. We are always on the go. We never have time to relax. There is always something for us to do. Etc. Etc. Etc. (Waaahh, Waaahh, Waaahh) BUT God has told me (via Beth Moore...he doesn't come in a burning bush. (c:) that he did not send me here to have an easy life (or a relaxing life) but he sent me here to have a PURPOSEFUL life. He has burned the scripture "never tire of doing good" (2 Thessalonians 3:13) into my brain to ward off any conflicting thoughts (lies) Satan might whisper in my ear (as in the first half of this paragraph). He has also reminded me to come to him when I am weary or burdened and He will give me rest (Matthew 11:28).

It is sad that sometimes I need to be reminded that God didn't send me here to watch The Marriage Ref or other pointless TV shows. God didn't send me here to spend a ridiculous amount of time on twitter and facebook just so I can avoid doing the things that I need to do so I can be ready to do the things He will call me to do!!

(I am not claiming that TV, twitter, or facebook is bad--just saying He was telling me that I needed to put my priorities into the correct order. He also suggested that I use twitter and facebook to encourage my friends rather than just to pass some time--i.e. to be more efficient with the time I am giving it.)

There you have it...Testimony Tuesday-Week One. I will try to figure out where a McLinky is and how to get it on here in case any one else wants to join me. Personally, I think it would be awesome if people all across blog land were testifying to how God is working in their lives weekly!! This week I will be praying to be disciplined enough to be ready for the work God wants me to do and obedient enough to follow through. (:

Now--to go be productive and get this house under control! Ha!!
