Couch to 10K & Other Updates!

Okay, so we started Week 2 of Couch to 10K yesterday. Whew--it is a doozie! We do a warm up walk of 1/4 of a mile. Then we run 1/4 mile, walk 1/8 mile, run 1/2 mile, walk 1/4 mile, run 1/4 mile, walk 1/8 mile, run 1/2 mile. (Basically you run twice as much as you walk.) This took us from 1/2 mile running total to 1 1/2 mile running distance. We are doing it though! I took a look at this week's plan on Thursday of last week and started running a little bit more and more on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday I ran a mile without stopping. All in all, I think we are really enjoying this! Reid has been feeding himself yogurt. Check out the bib to see how accurate he is with his hand-to-mouth aim. (:
Lilly has become very particular about everything. She wants a "pink fork" (actually she says "fark"). She wants cheese on her spaghetti. She wants it on a plate and NOT just on her tray. Lilly and Reid have been feeding Tank a lot lately..that is why he is looking longingly at her in this picture. Ha!
I have got to get Reid splashing in the bathtub on video! The boy is like a splashing machine. It is hysterical!
No..Matt and I did not get mad after we weighed in and break the scale. (I lost 1 pound and Matt lost 2 pounds....which we are happy with considering we ate pizza and cupcakes at a birthday party Saturday and a big Mexican lunch after church on Sunday!) Reid somehow snuck this out of our bathroom this morning. He is like a little Hulk because this is HEAVY...or was heavy. Anyway he made it down the hall before he dropped it and it busted E.V.E.R.Y.W.H.E.R.E!! I am so sad because this was a really good scale BUT I am also praising God that it was tempered glass and he didn't get hurt!!
Lilly and Reid have decided that they are too grown up for sippee cups at restaurants now. They demand (by screaming and throwing fits that make me look like an awesome mom) cups with straws.
They are just getting too big for their own good!

Lilly finally decided she would go into the tubes at the Chick-Fil-A play area. This is her playing in the car. She is getting so big. Tear.
The only way she doesn't freak out and get scared when I vacuum is if she gets to vacuum at the same time!
If only it really worked. Sigh.
LOVE this girl! She is saying so much and understands everything! She amazes me daily with the things that she does and says.
Is there a doctor in the house??
Yes, but I should warn you--he is a heavy drinker! Ha. Don't worry--just milk, water, and juice! But seriously, he drinks constantly! I have never seen anything like it!
LOVE my handsome little man too! He can climb everything, loves to dance, and thinks he is just as big as his sister!

1-2-3 Weeee!

Last week we met some friends at Chuck E Cheese for some indoor fun to beat the winter blues! I will have to separate all of the fun into a couple of posts. This one focuses on the slide. Lilly and Reid (and a guest appearance of Anna Kate) LOVED the slide. Reid would say "1, 2, 3, Weeeeee!" Or his version of 1, 2, 3.
Lilly did too!
Reid slid down all kinds of different ways! No fear! We had went up there with their cousins a few days earlier and he busted his lip on this very slide (after Lilly pushed him down the slide...ah, the joy of siblings).
This is sweet Anna Kate! Isn't she a doll? These three kids just kept taking turns.
So much fun! I was glad that they were playing on the slide because it gave me a chance to sit down! Now that both of my toddlers run in opposite directions all the time....keeping up with BOTH of them by myself has become a bit of a challenge!
1-2-3......
WEEEE!
Taking turns and having a blast!

We love our slides!

Biggest Loser--Blog Style!

Well, this will be New Years Resolution week on the blog. Or, at my speed of blogging, New Years Resolution month. I will start with the classic NYR....getting in shape. Both Matt and I are not at our "ideal" weight or in-shape-d-ness level. So, we decided for motivational purposes to sign up for the marathon relay race that happens here in April. That is approximately 6 1/2 miles per person. Since I do not have any recent running experience (and the running experience I do have dates backs to pre-junior high)--we are doing the Couch to 10K program.
This is us last night before our first walk/run!! Let me explain Matt's eyes in this picture. We had taken two pictures previous to this one and in one his eyes were completely closed and the other one his eyes were nearly closed...so this was his attempt at keeping his eyes open. Ha!!! I love it! It does show off those beautiful blue eyes. (c: Anyway, back to the details. Week One you run 1/8 mile, walk 1/8 mile, run 1/8 mile, walk 1/8 mile, run 1/8 mile, walk 1/8 mile, run 1/8 mile, walk 1/8 mile....for a total distance of 1 mile! We are to do this no less than 4 times and no more than 6 times this week.
(Lilly eating breakfast with her baby doll. Had to put pictures of Lilly and Reid in the post or the grandparents get tiffy.)
We also weighed in last night and have our starting weights written down. Each week I will update on what we are running that week and total weight loss for that week and total weight loss all together. Don't worry--there will be no pictures of us in spandex shorts and sports bras (which is how they weigh in on the show Biggest Loser). Also, I will be excited about any weight loss--you will not see me upset that it was only a pound...or ounce for that matter.
(Reid enjoying some shredded cheese. How did we get TWO kids that are so cute?)
So, we are excited about this resolution and glad to get started on it! So far (you know, after Day 1 and all) we are doing great and feeling good!

Boingo Bounce!

Right before we left for Christmas, my good buddy Sydney called me up to see if we wanted to do an impromptu trip to this bouncy place around here. We just happened to be up and around so we decided to try it out. They have all kinds of bouncy things (nothing but the technical terms is good enough for this blog (c:) that they can jump on and then they have a little area with a play house and some toys. At first, my kids wanted nothing to do with anything bouncy. Lilly has never liked bouncy houses but Reid loves them so I was a little surprised that he wouldn't get in any of them.
They were perfectly content just playing in the house...note that Lilly brought her purse. She always has to have a baby and a purse when we leave the house. I cleaned no less than 8 babies out of the car the other day. Anyway, then something surprising happened...
Lilly got on one of the bouncy things!! I was so proud of her and she had a blast! She was just jumpy jumping all over the place! I think it is because there isn't a top on this one...maybe it wasn't as scary for her.?.
Maybe the fact that Stella (or "Lella" to Lilly) was there to encourage her? I don't know but I was so happy that she tried it and loved it!
Then, after seeing big sister Lilly do it, Reid decided he would give it a shot too!
Isn't he handsome?? I am such a sucker for that little boy to begin with but then you put in a sweater vest and I just can't contain my excitement at his cuteness!!!!
Stella coming through the tunnel!
Petting the horse. All the kids were sitting on the dog at one point or another but I was too slow to get a picture!
Lilly had the most fun at the water fountain though! She was soaked!! She would turn it on and it would hit her on the side of her face and she would just laugh and laugh. Thanks for the invite Stella and Syd! We had a blast!

2010--Lilly & Reid Style

January--first snow of the year! Didn't love being out in the cold for long periods of time...
But did LOVE playing with the snow inside!
Reid just wanted to hang out inside where it was warm and be vocal.
He had his first occasion to wear his tux--cousin Lynn's wedding!
We finally got Lilly's hair in pig-tails!!
Which led to the discovery of Lilly's Who-ville hair.
February:
MoMo and Papa Ray got married!!
We also started attending our church.
We had our first playgroup!
Lilly made sure Tank didn't starve during the cold harsh winter.
March
Discovered our LOVE of the slide. "1, 2, 3, WEEEE!"
Dressed Reid up in this hot-dog suit for a photo shoot--even though it was way too small. His knees were in his chest. Since I got this photo though....I say "worth it".
Lilly's ability to multi-task really blossomed. And she fell in love with those hello kitty rainboots. They were too big and one was always coming off but she didn't seem to mind.
We had a day that began at 70 degrees and ended with a foot of snow. No exaggerations. I can't make this stuff up.
April:
We all walked in Race for the Cure in honor of Aunt Theresa's 10 years in remission!
May:
Baby dedication!
Reid got tubes--after 2 months of the same ear infection making him miserable. I don't care what other people say, we love tubes!
We moved into our beautiful home that is absolutely perfect for our family!! What a blessing from God!
June
Started a summer of hanging out in the backyard!
Lilly found a way to play with her toys and watch tv at the same time.
Swim lessons! Lilly could swim by herself with a life jacket on--and I believe it is thanks to these lessons!
Reid was the best splasher in the pool. Hands down!

July (this was a pretty exciting month) Mommy got bit by this ferocious tiger!
We had a streaker in the backyard!!
We spent a ton of time in pools! Bathing suits, diapers, naked, fully dressed--didn't matter as long as there was a pool filled with water.

August
BEACH TRIP! This was both Lilly and Reid's first trip to the ocean/beach. We all had a blast!
Reid turned one. My baby turned one. Tear.
Oh, and I got baptized!

September:
Lilly turned 2. My baby girl turned two. Sniffle. Sniffle.
We had a zoo-themed birthday party!!
First day of Mother's Day Out for Lilly...
and Reid.

October
Reid got his first hair-cut. We said good-bye to the baby mullet.
Reid was a monkey. This is fitting since he climes on everything. E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G.
Lilly was a love bug. Also perfect because she just does make everyone around her fall in love!

November
We celebrated Thanksgiving...
and made our handprint turkeys.

December
I think we have been celebrating Christmas all month long!
We had a wonderful and blessed year! We can't wait to see what God has in store for us this year. Today I saw Lilly rocking and praying with her baby doll...she had her eyes closed talking very softly and then said "Amen". That makes me think this year is going to be pretty awesome when it starts out with something as sweet as that!
