Poor Lilly!

Well today Lilly & Reid had their friend Will over to play. They had a blast playing and when Will and his parents were leaving we went outside to see them off. Lilly was running in the front yard and tripped and fell mouth-first on the metal landscaping edging. This caused her front teeth to go all the way through her skin. Brent and Becky (Will's parents) hadn't left yet and volunteered to keep Reid so we could take Lilly to the ER (such a blessing). We loaded Lilly up and started off and somehow (because we were both freaking out but just trying to remain calm--a parent is just not prepared to see their child covered in blood) managed to think of stopping by a walk-in clinic that is very close to our house. Matt flew there in our car. We rushed her in and explained what happened and the doctor said for us to just bring her back and he would see whether or not she needed to go to the ER. He looked her over and said he didn't think stitches were necessary. So the doctor and his two nurses cleaned her up (while Matt and I held her hands and played with her hair) and he decided to put some "super-glue-like-stuff" on it. I am so thankful to God for giving us such a sweet and caring doctor and nurses! They let her pick out her favorite band-aid. He was a little worried about the bruise on her chin (you can't totally see it b/c of the band-aid) and whether or not she would be able to eat. If not, after a couple of days, she would need to go the dentist and get x-rayed. But, as if God just wanted to reassure us that she was okay, she ate an entire weeks worth of food tonight.
See that bad scrape? She has played and been pretty normal for the most part this evening. If you ask about it or go to look at it, she gets very sad and pitiful. (:
She also scratched her arm pretty good. Bless her heart. She has gotten away with whatever tonight! She was talking with MoMo tonight and told her "I busted my lip." I don't know where she got that wording. Also--another huge blessing in it all was that the doctor didn't charge us for the visit. Which was kind of hilarious b/c they were so good to her I thought to myself--finally a doctor's visit that is worth the money! I know it is something so small...since it wasn't life-threatening or anything...but we saw God's blessings all throughout tonight. He knew it was traumatizing for us and made sure we knew he was with us. (:
Now, here are some pictures of the kids at the park from a few days ago. (See we ARE good parents. Ha!!)
She is getting so adventurous. She loves to get on the big slides and climb up the harder ways (i.e. rock wall).

LOVE her!
Weeeeee!

LOVE him and his toothy smile!

Playing some basketball.
The yogurt had melted the animal cookies into one giant animal cookie and Reid just ate it like an apple! Ha! Hope you all have a great week!

Airplanes!

My buddy Melissa told me about a local place where you can eat and watch airplanes take off. I have wanted to take the kids for a few weeks now but we just didn't have the time. This past Saturday we were finally able to go! Lilly was mesmerized! If you could see in front of her face--the window is covered with fog from her being so close and breathing on it. She was soooo excited! We ate inside (yummy!) and then went out on the balcony to watch some more planes.
Most of the pictures in this post are of the back of her head. She would say "it goes up up UP".
Still watching.
Lilly has told anyone who would listen this week about the airplanes. She gets really excited and says a bunch of gibberish but in there is always, "and the plane takes off".
Can you tell she is annoyed at me for trying to get her attention?
Our friends Jenna, Chris, Brayden, and Brody met us there too!
Brayden gave Lilly a hug but Lilly wasn't interested in hugging. Ha! So cute!
They did share crackers though.
I didn't get a great picture of Reid but he had a great time too. He wasn't as into it but he can spot an airplane before Matt and I. We will be in the car or outside and he will yell "airpane" and we will look and sure enough waaaaaayyyy in the distance will be an airplane!
We LOVED it!

Friday Night Out. A Bowling Story.

I have said it before and I will say it again. I love our church for oh so many reasons...one day I am going to do a post on all of them...but one of them is their Friday Night Out ministry. I love that they care enough about the marriages in their church body to create a ministry that gives married couples with children an opportunity for a regular date night with FREE childcare. Since neither one of our parents live in the same area as us--this has been such a huge blessing. And the kids love it too. We put them in fun pajamas and pack them their favorite dinner to take with them. They get to go see many of their friends and play and do fun things while Mommy and Daddy go nurture their relationship.

This particular FNO we decided to go bowling with some of our friends whose children were also at FNO. Let me just say--when it comes to bowling--I am lacking in the "skill" department. My lowest score ever...while well over a decade ago was an 11. My highest score ever was like 120 or 130 and I thought I was ready to go professional! The boys bowled on one lane and the girls bowled on the other lane so we could play at our respective paces. The first game wasn't pretty for me-79. That was with a much better second half. I think I guttered the first 4 frames.
BUT the next game---I pulled off a victory!!!! I couldn't believe it! I even took this picture as proof!! (I am the middle S with a whopping score of 103. I bet hubby is beaming with pride right now. He is probably carrying his blackberry from friend to friend at work just to brag on my bowling achievement. Ha!!)
We still had a few minutes left on our lanes after the last game so the men decided to throw as many balls down the lane as possible. In as many ways as possible. It was pretty funny.
The guys: Chris, Chris, Jason, and Matt
The girls: Jenna, Melissa, Stacey, and Me
Me and my handsome man.
Chris and Jenna. Chris wanted the bowling ball in the picture since we went bowling.

Melissa and Chris. Chris said he was holding his bowling ball too! HA! Melissa didn't bowl with us. She pulled the "pregnancy card". (c; (Stacey and Jason had their own camera so I didn't get a picture of them together.)
On our way out, Jason and Chris decided they were going to have a dance off on dance revolution. Here they are stretching. It was about to get serious.
Until they accidentally pushed one person game and couldn't figure out how to get it back to two players. We were out of time and needed to go pick up the kids so they had to reschedule their dancing duel.
Then we picked the kids up, went by Sonic and got ice cream (always the perfect ending to FNO), and went to bed!

"Duck-EEE-Deez"

Okay so Reid has shoe envy. It started when he outgrew his squeaker shoes and Lilly can still fit into hers. He would just watch her walk around squeaking away and look at his shoes in disgust. I diagnosed him with the dreaded "squeaker envy" and thought we could move on. However, it has gotten worse. He now will bring me her sparkly shoes--the sparklier the better....and want to wear them. He thinks his shoes are boring. I am going to have to go shoe shopping with him for some cool-light-up/make noise just totally-awesome-show-stopping shoes to snap him out of it. The problem is he has a wide foot and is in-between sizes so it is going to be a challenge. I am totally digressing because the reason I mentioned shoes in the first place.... was because he has also taken to wearing both mine (pictured above) and Matt's shoes too. Apparently, it has gotten so serious that the envy has spread to our shoes too. Ha!
Is he not just the most handsome little darling ever? And I am not even biased!
Now to the name of the post. Thursday night Matt came home and we just wanted to have a little family date night so we went to "Duck-EEE-Deez" (or Chuck E Cheese if you aren't fluid in Reid).
Reid wanted to play some ski ball.
So Matt was giving him so lessons on how to ROLL the ball.
I don't think it was effective because he proceeded to THROW the ball. Eeeek.
After a few more lessons....success!!! But he can't roll it hard enough to get it over that bump.
He loved trying though....and he looked good doing it and we all know that is just as important as your actual skill level, right?
Then he helped daddy shoot some hoops. I think even when he gets older and can actually play basketball--I am still going to see him as this size struggling to just hold the ball up. It just melts my heart!
Lilly was hysterical! She carried around and ate pizza all night long. She probably had 5 pieces of pizza. It is just her favorite meal!
Playing and eating.
Smiling for the camera and eating.
She was on this bike "driving" and a little boy walked by (minding his own business I might add) and Lilly got really serious and told him, "Watch it buddy!" I honestly do not know where she got that from. We are really having to work on her sassy-ness! Her favorite phrase to say today was, "I don't listen". As in we would tell her to do something and she would reply, "I don't listen".
My little hot mess!
Daddy and Bubby playing another game.
LOVE how they are looking at each other in this picture. Aren't those just the sweetest pictures?
My kids love a slide. Hope you all aren't sick of them because I got some really cute ones that I will post later this week of them on the slides at a local park.

I love that they are at the age where they get excited when we are going places and that we can have these fun-filled family date night. We are so blessed and just loving and cherishing every minute of our lives with these two babies!! (When they are 20...I will probably still be calling them babies....just FYI.)
