Rice Cereal

Well at the doctor yesterday I asked about feeding Lilly cereal. He said that since she was breastfed, she didn't need any cereal until she was six months old. However, if I felt that she needed something, I could try plain rice cereal. So, I was feeling adventurous today while we are at Wal-Mart and picked some up. Tonight, we tried rice cereal! What did Lilly think??? She did not like rice cereal here....
She did not like rice cereal there....

She did not like rice cereal anywhere. I even tried putting it in a bottle....not interested. I think I might try tomorrow and if she is still not having it then we will just hold off another month. So not how I pictured her first bite of cereal going (I pictured her like smacking her lips or something like that).
On a more positive note--Lilly is wearing one of her two new bath luvies she got for Christmas. She is also feeling good today and I even forgot to give her a dose of Tylenol..phew.

Four Months Today!!

Lilly is four months old today!! It seems like time has flown, but again it seems like we have always had her. At four months she is doing a few things....

  • Chewing on her fingers....this is her favorite thing to do....Oh, how I wish I could be so entertained by looking and chewing on my fingers....Lilly does not take those babies for granted!!
  • Still rolling from stomach to back
  • Holding her head up...sitting in her bumbo and loving it.
  • Cooing continuously. She is also changing the tone in her voice...soft....squeal...normal
  • Laughing outloud
  • Grabbing and shaking toys
  • Kicking legs like crazy! If you hold her upright she just runs in place. Before the doctor today, Matt and I had lunch at Stonemill....they had great Chicken and Dumplings! Anyway, Lilly took a nap while we ate and she looked so adorable....I took a photo.
At the doctor...Lilly weighed 13 lbs. 4 oz. (55th %), she is 23 1/2 inches long (40th %) and her head is b/t the 5th and 10th percentile. She had to get stupid shots again today and the hussy in the above picture is the one that gave them to her.

She is getting the oral vaccine in this pic...didn't take pictures during shots...had to be there for the sweet baby.
So she cried for just a second and then she did what I call the angry coo. Where she is cooing but it sounds like she is telling you off....something like, "I didn't like that!!!"
We were ready to leave! She was happy cooing by now. She has done really well. When we first got home, her injection spot was really bothering her.....to the point that we got in the car and drove to put her to sleep. Since that catnap, she has been A-Ok.
Grandma DeDe is here. I think you can tell that Lilly is excited about that! Yay DeDe.
We went to the Trumbo's tonight to watch the championship game. I finally got some photos. Trenton was pretty funny. At one point, he had taken all of Lilly's toys and put them away in his room. In this picture, we said, "say cheese" and smiled and put his fingers on his face!! He is wearing the block container as a hat.
He was wearing his hat, but it had just fallen off. Taken a ride in the tonka.

There he is in all his glory..Tonka truck-check, Block container hat-check, "Cheese"-check, check! What a cutie!
We leave you tonight with an extreme Tank closeup!

Lilly is watching Tank! She has enjoyed having him back. He was running around like crazy and she just watched him like, "What is wrong with that boy?"
Lilly is happy happy. She is also wearing her "Grandpa's Sweetheart" shirt...awe.

She is doing this thing now where she recognizes the camera and just stares at. So I will be trying to get a picture of her doing something and she turns and looks at the camera.
Please oh Please! Look at those sweet eyes and clasped hands...she is going to be able to get whatever she wants.
Lilly has some of the funniest expressions. The next few pictures are just cute faces.

(VIDEO) The above is a video of Lilly. She is just cooing. You may not find it that interesting, but she has really been cooing a lot lately. She has always been connecting them. I sing to her "Rock a Bye Baby" when I am rocking her to sleep and she has started cooing really softly like she is trying to sing along....soooo cute!

(VIDEO) AHA!! I caught the roll. So, Lilly has been rolling for a long time now.....but I finally got it on video!! Not much else has been going on here. Lilly and I had the perfect trip to Wal-Mart today. She was soooo good. She stayed in her carseat the whole time. Happy and talking, then napping, then happy and talking. The best trip ever. Oh, she is laughing outloud now! We left her baby einstein videos in b-town so we have resorted to Barney these past couple of days.....she LOVES it. She laughs and laughs. Tomorrow she is four months! She has her doctors appointment too. So, tomorrow I will post those findings and what she is doing at four months old. DeDe is coming tomorrow!! We can't wait!

Lazy Weekend

So, this is my FAVORITE photo of Matt and Lilly. I took it tonight. They are both smiling!!
Okay, I am posting about our weekend. I would've done it sooner, but I really love the pictures in the last post and wanted them to have a few days to be the highlight. Friday was crazy. We had lunch with my cousin Amber--forgot to get a single picture of her (I think she distracted me any time I mentioned it...) Then, we stayed out all day running around with Amber (had a blast!) and went to a late dinner with our friends, John, Brittney, Trevor, Roxane, Wally, and Amber.
Lilly didn't have much of a nap....so she was tired at dinner. However, she was still so good. She was happy all day long. Matt and I are so blessed to have such a sweet sweet girl. Oh yeah, her shirt says "Born in 2008" HaHa.
This is Trevor. He is so funny. He will be three in a couple of months. He told his dad that Santa was coming 2 times. John asked where he heard that and he said, "Mommy, you know in the song, "You better not pout, You better not cry, Santa Claus is coming two times"....adorable!
Roxane, Wally, and Lilly...forgot to get a pic of John and Brittney....next time. Slacking on the photo ops here.
The rest of the weekend was mainly taken up with football and movies and being lazy...since Thursday we have seen the following: Iron Man (Great), Eagle Eye(Ok, different than what I thought), Kung Fu Panda (Liked it), Made of Honor (Predictable, but goodish), and The Women (Good, I like more of a finite ending-but it didn't totally leave you hanging). I wasn't really paying attention to the football games...I think mostly playoff stuff. Tonight, we had dinner with the Trumbos. Good times. No pics. And, of course, as we do daily........we PLAYED with our little Lilly!
Lilly is watching football in her Boppy. Daddy loves that she loves football. I assume it is all the bright colors....or the love of football really is genetic. I guess we will have to wait to find out.
Lilly is mid-talk in this picture. I think of it as one of her first "Action Shots".
Playing in the floor with daddy and the ducky.
Tank is back!!! Tank had a little vacation from Thanksgiving to Christmas in B-town with his pug girl Cleo, and his boys Thomas and Ray. We are so glad to have him back, BUT he was super stinky. We finally gave him a bath today so now we can let him get closer to Lilly....and us. Ok, so our weekend was not too exciting (we are a little chronically tired these days, you know)....but Grandma DeDe will be here this coming weekend!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year! What better way to start the new year than with an at home Lilly photo shoot?? We couldn't think of anything either...so we did.
Sitting in her new favorite...the Bumbo Chair...such a big girl.
Is this going to take a while, mom??
Oh, Okay, I guess I can smile for a few. I bought this tutu from Bibs and Cribs before Thanksgiving....she will clearly wear this more later, but I just couldn't wait anymore.
Giggling. She tried to eat the tutu and I think she was tickling herself with it in this picture.
I am kind of the cutest thing ever. (By the way, This is Ridonkulous! Why doesn't dad have to do this crap?)
Our Angel!
Getting herself in the face with the tutu again.
We're still doing this?
Uncle Sam wants you!
Enough, it is my nap time! Lilly really did have a good time with the tutu...it was like wearing a toy. She played with it and tried to eat it and kept tickling herself on accident. However, towards the end..it was nap time and she kept giving me the looks you see in the last couple. Clearly, she is telling me she is done with the photos.......grrr...she is going to be just like her daddy!
Lilly is playing with the keys her Aunt Kay got her for Christmas. Bert and Becca's dog Buddy has this thing where he finds the squeaker in his toy and just repeatedly hits it (kind of a talent). Well, Lilly's arm did that with the keys. It just kept saying, "Wahoo" "Chirp. Chirp. Let's go" "Vroom" over and over.

Playing with her ball. She is trying to get it to her mouth.
Finally made it. She tried to get it in her mouth and was getting so frustrated.
She gave up and was expressing her frustration.
I thought she was being really sweet and giving the bird a big hug......
Nah...just wanting to bite it's beak. So, these last few aren't her most exciting photos but I wanted to show her playing with some of her Christmas toys. Also, it was good to see her feeling well enough to play. She has been feeling much better. Matt and I weren't feeling great yesterday, but we are feeling good today. Lilly's Momo watched her tonight so that we could go to the movies. We ate at the Olive Garden and went to see "Yes, Man". It was a really good movie. Funny! So, on Brody's blog, I saw she listed the high points of the year....here are ours!
  • January--found out we were pregnant (pleasantly surprised),--Matt started doing the internet website instead of sales...halleluah. February 6th--first doctor's appt....had to do ultrasound to find out we were 6 weeks 6 days pregnant...saw her little heartbeat...looked like bike petals going around and around. May--graduated college--found out Lilly was a sweet baby girl--got contract on house. June--sold house--thank you lord. July--had to go to UAMS to get super scary ultrasound...our baby was perfect! Not a fun day...Matt and Debbie had a drink...I had cold stone. --Started numerous child birth/preparedness classes --went to the beach for a GREAT vacation! August--married 4 years. Went to Branson for a last hoorah without child. September--had our sweet baby Lilly. Since then, we have enjoyed all the firsts with Lilly...halloween, thanksgiving, christmas pageant, christmas. We had such a blessed year with so many surprises...all so much better than we could have and tried to plan for ourselves. Thank God for his timing and his plans!!

Dr./Christmas/Presents/Cousin Zoe

Warning: Super long post! This is how my sweet Lilly was until yesterday at around 3:00. (Also, I almost caught her rolling over on video, but I hit the power button instead of record..SHUCKS). Then, she would just get miserable for like an hour. Eat, sleep, be happy for a couple of hours. Then, miserable again for an hour. She got up in the middle of the night. Not normal Lilly. Now, we think she might be teething (it would be super early though) because she is slobbering like crazy and chewing on everything!! But from what I have read, she should not be this miserable due to teething...
So, when it all started again at 1:30 today (the crying and miserableness), I called the pediatrician. I am quite embarrassed to report that when the appointment lady asked what the problem was I started crying like an idiot and sobbed, "I don't know..I just can't fix it!"

Now, we get to the doctor, and she acts just like the Lilly pictured above...smiling, cooing, and just putting on a real show (NOT the Lilly I had been with for the past 2 days). The good news is that the doctor said she looks great...she weighed in at a whopping 12 lbs. 14 oz. He does believe she may have some acid reflux and gave us some stuff for that. Tonight has been better, she did just have an upset moment, but it didn't last for near as long and she fell asleep much easier...so fingers crossed!
I was really glad that she wasn't sick because that meant we could go eat dinner with Lilly's cousin Zoe (my cousin Troy's daughter). They are in town from Texas. Zoe is such an adorable little girl...I was telling a story and dramatically said the word, "Wait!" and she repeated back in the exact same manner and then laughed and covered her hand with her mouth, apparantly a trick she had learned from some college girls the night before. It was so good to see them. I am trying to talk them into starting a blog b/c I now believe everyone who has kids should have one so I can be in the know!
Lilly got so much stuff for Christmas. My favorite was this backpack on rollers! I LOVE it. I know she will too.
She gots lots of toys. We couldn't bring it all home so there are still several things (anything with some size) at DeDe's. She got two Cabbage Patch dolls and a big soft fluffy ring stacking thing and some movies. Thank you everyone for the toys!!
She also got quite the collection of books!! I heard that she asked Santa for toys and books....and boy did he deliver! She got so many great books. I wonder if she will ever know how loved and blessed she truly is. She also got a ton of clothes...I will take a picture of them later. I am out of floor space. Where am I going to put everything??
Bert, Becca, and Buddy. Apparently the hint, hint, wink, from the last post worked because Debbie sent me some pictures from Christmas. So, as promised, I am posting them.
Hanging out with the gifts.
Lilly and Grandpa. I think he is really starting to adore our little Angel Baby.

Playing with a little wrapping paper. Being cute. The norm.
Opening Lilly's gifts while she watches TV (kind of her favorite thing to do).
I am sure we are discussing her gifts and how much she loved them all.
This is my favorite picture. This has Thomas, Ray, Melissa, and Lilly. I really need to get a new picture of Eli and Lilly! Eli is a busy man..hard to find time for pesky photo ops. We had such a great Christmas. Matt and I got so many great things to and we love them all! It was so fun to watch Lilly and her first Christmas. I am so looking forward to many more Christmas's with our baby.
